How PingArmor protects your game during failover
When your primary internet drops and PingArmor switches to the backup, what happens to your game connection? Does it survive or does it drop?
The answer depends on a detail most players don’t know about — and that PingArmor now checks automatically for you.
The tunnel as a safe path
When you click Connect, PingArmor creates an encrypted WireGuard tunnel between your PC and the relay server. All game traffic flows through this tunnel.
The key point: the tunnel uses UDP, which isn’t tied to a specific network interface. If the primary internet drops and the secondary takes over, the tunnel reconnects through the new interface — without interrupting what’s flowing inside it.
Automatic server detection
You don’t need to configure anything. PingArmor automatically detects game servers when you open the client. Specific routes are created to make sure game traffic goes through the tunnel.
For games like Tibia Global, additional routes are activated to cover all servers (including BattlEye and login servers).
For RubinOT and other OT servers, PingArmor creates specific /32 routes as the client connects to each world. Detection is automatic and routes update in real time when you switch worlds.
Order matters: tunnel first
For failover to work seamlessly, connect PingArmor before opening the game.
If the game is already open when you connect the tunnel, the game connection may be bound to the physical interface instead of the tunnel. In that case, PingArmor displays a yellow warning on the game card:
The fix is simple: close and reopen the game with the tunnel already connected. The warning disappears automatically when the connection is protected.
If the warning doesn’t appear, your connection is already safe — failover will work without interruption.
Verifiable protection
Unlike other solutions, PingArmor doesn’t just protect — it verifies that protection is active. Every 2 seconds, the app checks whether game connections are properly linked to the tunnel.
- Green shield + no warning = full protection, failover ready
- Yellow warning on card = close and reopen the game to fix
- Yellow “At Risk” shield = one of your interfaces is offline
You always know exactly where you stand.
In practice
- Open PingArmor and click Connect
- Wait for the shield to turn green
- Open your game
- Confirm there’s no warning on the game card
- Play with peace of mind
If the primary internet drops, the switch happens in 1 to 2 seconds. The game continues, your character doesn’t die, and the saves counter logs every switch you didn’t feel.
